STX Entertainment has announced a new investment from John Malone’s international cable giant Liberty Global.
Concurrently, STX has added Liberty’s chief programming officer, Bruce Mann, to its board of directors. The board includes representatives from fellow STX investors TPG, Hony Capital and Tencent, among others.
“I am so pleased to be part of the team that made this investment in STX,” said Mann. “In this unprecedented and transformative time in our industry, it is more imperative than ever to align with the best partners and most forward-looking leaders.”
STX most recently released the holiday feature Bad Moms Christmas, starring Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell, which has pulled in over $90 million at the global box office. Next up is Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, Molly’s Game.
Liberty Global operates primarily throughout Europe and Latin America and already holds small stakes in the U.K.’s ITV and Lionsgate.
