Park City at Midnight
On the eve of their collaboration The Pact having its Sundance Film Festival premiere, Content Film and Preferred Content have signed a six-picture production deal. The plan is for the two companies to make half a dozen horror, thriller or supernatural genre films designed for theatrical releases and festival play, with the first film tentatively scheduled for a spring start.

Preferred Content’s Ross Dinerstein will produce the pictures, while Content Film will arrange financing and handle sales outside of North America. Dinerstein’s partner Kevin Iwashina will handle all North American sales on the projects.
Content handled the international sales on the Dinerstein-produced The Killing Room and The Divide, which had its premiere at the 2011 SXSW film festival in the midnight section.

The Pact will have its world premiere Friday night at the Egyptian Theatre. It was written and directed by Nicholas McCarthy and produced by Dinerstein. Iwashina is co-repping the North America rights along with Content Film’s Jamie Carmichael.
“We have had a terrific experience working with Ross on the production side and Kevin on the domestic sales side,” said Carmichael of the extended relationship. “This is a natural next step as we look to ramp up our efforts in this space.”
Content had the films Hick, Sarah Palin — You Betcha! and The Day screen at the Toronto film festival last year.
In addition to The Pact, Iwashina is selling rights at Sundance to The End of Love, Keep the Lights On, Excision and 28 Hotel Rooms.
