The gang makes a video game.
It’s Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Mobile? is a new mobile game from FoxNext Games and East Side Games that lets fans of the long-running series control the Paddy’s Pub gang: Mac, Dennis, Charlie, Dee and Frank.
Much like on the show, players will indulge in poorly conceived moneymaking schemes as they tap and unlock more ill-fated stratagems and fan-favorite characters from the series, immersing themselves in their favorite gags, storylines and iconic moments from the series.
The game is set to be released later this year.
The announcement of the new title comes on the heels of FoxNext Game’s successful Marvel Strike Force, which introduced Infinity War content tied to the blockbuster film’s release in April. FoxNext Games has found similar success in adapting television series to mobile games with Simpsons: Tapped Out, first released in 2012, and recent Family Guy and Futurama mobile games.
The company also has plans for future Avatar and Alien games currently in the works. For more information, fans can sign up at AlwaysSunnyGame.com.
To celebrate the new title, the team revealed a cryptic message hinting at the game’s opening. In line with the character’s literacy limitations, Charlie has written a pictogram-style note that explains the new game’s setup — sort of.
Savvy fans may be able to discern the nearly unintelligible note, but for those who need a helping hand, here’s a translation:
Charlie needs a friend.
Charlie burn money (in a dumpster) and is sad.
Please stop the fire.
Charlie is inside the phone.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns for its 13th season on Sept. 5 on FXX.
