Thomas Jane, Maia Mitchell and Emory Cohen have joined Hot Summer Nights, a coming-of-age drama set during a stormy summer in Cape Cod.
The trio join previously announced stars Maika Monroe, Timothee Chalamet and Alex Roe.
The Imperative Entertainment project is based on a Black List script by Elijah Bynum, who will make his directorial debut with the indie film. Bynum was the only writer to have two scripts on the 2013 Black List, the other being Mississippi Mud.
Hot Summer Nights, set in 1991, follows a teen boy who befriends the town rebel. He falls in love and gets entangled in a drug ring — all over the course of one summer in the Cape.
Imperative’s Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin will produce the film, and Peter Farrelly and Casey Mott will executive produce. The film is currently shooting in Atlanta.
Jane starred on HBO’s series Hung and the History Channel’s miniseries Texas Rising. His film credits include White Bird in a Blizzard, The Mist, Deep Blue Sea and Dreamcatcher. He’s repped by Paradigm and Ziffren Brittenham.
Mitchell plays Callie Jacob on ABC Family’s The Fosters, and previously appeared in Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach Movie 2. She’s repped by WME, Station 3 and Myman Greenspan.
Cohen has a slew of projects coming up including Brooklyn with Saoirse Ronan, Vincent-N-Roxxy with Emile Hirsch and Zoe Kravitz, By Way of Helena with Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson and Detour with Bel Powley and Tye Sheridan. The Place Beyond the Pines actor is repped by CAA and Harvest Talent Management.
