"I was homeless, I didn't have any money, and I was living in my car. I was 18. I wasn't averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?"

Thomas Jane is a geek on the highest order. This is a guy who put on a suit from The Rocketeer and attended a 20th anniversary screening last year as a fan. Now he’s made a Punisher fan film…without quite actually calling it a Punisher film.
Jane starred as Frank Castle/Punisher in the 2004 film and has now made a 10-minute short for the heck of it, recruiting director Phil Joanou (1988’s U2: Rattle and Hum), writer Chad St. John (Motor City), and producer Adi Shankar (Dredd 3D). Look for a cameo by Ron Perlman.

On the YouTube page, Jane said, “I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in — a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
The film was shown Sunday at Comic-Con.
Caution: Violence ahead.
