Thomas Jane is teaming with his daughter, Harlow Jane, to star in Dig, an indie thriller to be directed by K. Asher Levin.
It will be the first feature pairing for the two, having previously worked in the 2015 History Channel miniseries, Texas Rising, which also starred Bill Paxton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Written by Banipal and Benhur Ablakhad, Dig centers on widower (Jane) and his teenage daughter (Harlow Jane), whose strained relationship reaches a breaking point when they are held hostage by two intruders and are forced to dig under a vacant house, revealing a dark secret from the past.
Principal photography will begin later this month in New Mexico.
The thriller reunites the team behind Slayers, a vampire horror comedy that has Jane as one of its stars and K. Asher Levin as its director. Daniel Cummings and Buffalo 8 Production’s Robert Dean, who produced Slayers, are producing Dig.
Jane will serve as an executive producer on Dig with Courtney Lauren Penn via the duo’s Renegade Entertainment banner. BondIt Media Capital’s Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and Grady Craig are also executive producing with first-look partner Film Mode Entertainment’s Clay Epstein.
“I’m beyond excited to see Thomas and Harlow on screen together and witness the magic they create in roles tailor made for them,” said Penn in a statement. “This authentic connection will serve the film so well.”
Penn and Jane’s Renegade Entertainment has been moving non-stop since launching in late 2019. The shingle recently completed production on western thriller The Last Son, starring Jane, Sam Worthington and Colson Baker, and has Slayers, which also stars Abigail Breslin and Malin Akerman, in post.
Renegade will soon start production on the western thriller Murder at Emigrant Gulch, starring Jane, Gabriel Byrne and Isaiah Mustafa. In development is an adaptation of Stephen King’s From a Buick 8, the fourth collaboration between Jane and King following 1922, The Mist and Dreamcatcher.
Jane and Renegade are repped by Paradigm. Harlow Jane is represented by The Gersh Agency and 3 Arts Entertainment.
