Penguin announced that Bleeding Edge, the new novel from reclusive writer Thomas Pynchon, will be published Sept. 17.
The publisher had already announced the book but provided details about title, plot and release date when announcing its complete 2012 results.
The low-key announcement was first noticed by a writer for Publishers Marketplace.
Taking place in 2001, the book is set in “the lull between the collapse of the dot-com boom and the terrible events of September 11.”
Pynchon — who so avoids the limelight that the best-known photograph of him is decades old — is most identified with 1974’s Gravity’s Rainbow, which won the National Book Award.
His other novels include V, Mason & Dixon and Inherent Vice.
