Tim Curry is recovering from a stroke.
[UPDATE: Curry’s agent Marcia Hurwitz tells The Hollywood Reporter the stroke happened last July, and not on Thursday, as had been previously reported.]
The 67-year-old actor, who famously played the cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, is currently recovering from the accident, according to Hurwitz.
“Tim had a stroke last July,” she tells THR. “He has been going to physical therapy doing very well and still has his great sense of humor. He thanks everyone for sending good wishes.”
Though best known for his role in the 1975 cult-cinema classic, Curry’s career spans 45 years, during which he has played everything from the Wadsworth the Butler in Clue (1985) to the horned Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott‘s Legend (1985) and the terrifying clown-monster Pennywise in 1990’s TV adaptation of Stephen King‘s It.
More recently, he has lent his recognizable voice to a wide array of characters in animated TV shows and films, including the wildlife explorer Nigel Thornberry from Nickelodeon’s The Wild Thornberrys.
