Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the writing-directing team behind 2011’s Crazy, Stupid, Love, have inked a deal to direct Taliban Shuffle, Paramount’s adaptation of journalist Kim Barker’s wartime memoir starring Tina Fey.
Fey is producing with her former Saturday Night Live boss and 30 Rock cohort Lorne Michaels.

The book told of Barker’s arrival as a fish out of water in Kabul, filing stories about militants, being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, dealing with boredom interspersed with dashes of violence and the promiscuous war-correspondent culture.
Robert Carlock, who worked with Fey as a writer and exec producer on 30 Rock, penned the script.
Ficarra and Requa were known for writing the envelope-pushing comedy Bad Santa and made their directing debut with I Love You Phillip Morris, the Jim Carrey–Ewan McGregor comedy that they also wrote.
They are now in post on Focus, Warners’ heist movie starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, due to open Feb. 27, 2015.
Ficarra and Requa are repped by CAA.
