The producers of the horror movie hit The Strangers are teaming up for a new thriller titled Crush.
Sonny Mallhi wrote the script for Crush, which Intrepid’s Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans will fully finance and produce.
Malik Bader (Street Thief) is set to direct.
Described as being a cross between Cruel Intentions and Misery, the story centers on a star high school athlete who becomes the focus of an admirer’s obsession. He soon discovers the innocent crush has turned dangerous and deadly.
Intrepid’s Anil Kurian will executive produce. International sales are being handled by FilmNation.
The movie is casting up now with filming scheduled to begin on October 17 in Los Angeles.
Mallhi and Intrepid teamed up for the first time to produce Strangers, the 2008 thriller that made more than $82 million worldwide.
Mallhi also wrote and exec produced The Roommate, the recent thriller that starred Minka Kelley and Leighton Meester. He is also an exec producer on the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence thriller House at the End of the Street.
Intrepid is shaping to have a packed 2012. It’s a producer on The Raven, Relativity’s period thriller starring John Cusack, and The Cold Light of Day, Summit’s actionner starring Henry Cavill and Bruce Willis. It’s exec producing Safe House, Universal’s action movie staring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.
Mallhi is reped by Caliber Media Co. and attorney Gregory Slewett. Bader is repped by CAA, Principato-Young and attorney Sean Marks.
