The Toronto International Film Festival has staffed up its star-driven Platform competition jury.
Brian De Palma, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and Cannes alum Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Dry Season, Grigris) were unveiled Thursday as the three-person jury for the festival competition to spotlight non-Hollywood movies in the TIFF lineup.
The Platform lineup includes the Natalie Portman-starring Jackie biopic, directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrain; Barry Jenkin’s Moonlight; William Oldroyd’s Lady Macbeth; and Mijke de Jong’s Layla M.
The winning film in the Platform competition will receive $25,000 and be announced at the TIFF awards ceremony on Sept. 18. The festival is set to run Sept. 8-18.
