TORONTO — Noah Weinzweig knows what it takes to go pan-Asian, after his Teneighty Productions shingle completed a seven-country shoot for Coca Cola that included whistle-stops in China, Japan and Indonesia.
So Teneighty executive producer Weinzweig will now appear as a keynote speaker at the Asian Film Summit during the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival to discuss his on-the-ground work across Asia.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, summit organizers also unveiled a cross-cultural filmmaking panel that includes Michael Lake, CEO of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, Reliance Big Pictures CEO Sanjeev Lamba, Rhombus Media co-founder Niv Fichman, producer Shan Tam and director Pierre-Ange Le Pogam.
A second panel on animated stories will feature Shilpa Ranade, associate professor at the Industrial Design Centre in Mumbai, and Michael Fukushima, a National Film Board of Canada animation producer with two projects at TIFF this year — Claire Blanchet‘s The End of Pinky and Bruce Alcock‘s Impromptu.
Summit organizers earlier announced that Keanu Reeves, Hong Kong director Johnnie To and Blindness executive producer Tatsumi “Tom” Yoda will also be on hand for the event.
The Asian Film Summit, which looks to build bridges between Asian and Western filmmakers, will take place Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Shangri-La Hotel.
