Disney and Pixar released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 on Monday.
The fourth installment of the franchise catches viewers up with Woody (Tom Hanks) after one of his human owners, Bonnie, adds a new toy named Forky (Tony Hale) to her room. The toys embark on a road trip adventure that shows them just how big and exciting the world can be.
The film also stars Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, Don Rickles, Jeff Pidgeon, Michael Keaton, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Jeff Garlin and Laurie Metcalf. Josh Cooley directed the animated film.
The trailer opens with Woody, Buzz Lightyear (Allen), Jessie (Cusack), Mr. Potato Head (Rickles), Mrs. Potato Head (Harris), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (Ratzenberger), an alien (Pidgeon) and Slinky Dog (Clark) all holding hands as they make a circle. Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” plays as text onscreen shares that the highly anticipated film will debut next summer.
The circle of friends concludes with makeshift toy Forky. “I don’t belong here,” he exclaims before letting go of Slinky Dog and Woody’s hands and running out of the circle. The new toy’s interruption sets off a chain reaction that forces the other toys to spin out of control.
Forky then addresses the camera and explains, “I’m not a toy.”
“Hey, hey. Somebody get him before he pokes an eye out,” Woody says from offscreen as Forky is seen running away.
The last Toy Story film hit theaters in 2010 and grossed more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
Toy Story 4 will hit theaters June 21, 2019.
