Tracy Lorie, a publicity and marketing executive for New Line and several other studios, died Friday at her Los Angeles home in Laurel Canyon after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. She was 48.
Just before her diagnosis, Lorie had landed her “dream job” as senior vp in charge of international publicity and marketing for Exclusive Media Group, the film company headed by Nigel Sinclair and Guy East that produced George Clooney’s The Ides of March.
Lorie came to Exclusive after serving as a campaign strategist for Warner Bros. and before that as senior vp international publicity for New Line Cinema for about a decade.
At New Line, Lorie was instrumental in the publicity and promotion of all of the studio’s releases, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Austin Powers franchise. Before that, she was a special events consultant for Fox and held publicity positions for MGM and United Artists.
The popular Lorie, born and raised in Denver, was a long-standing member of BAFTA and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Lorie is survived by her father, Barry Lorie; her husband Neil Sebba; and their two dogs, George and Kirby. Information about a memorial service in her honor will be posted on Lorie’s Caring Bridge web page when it becomes available.
