Paramount Pictures has released the first photos of The Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon villain Shockwave.
The one-eyed bad guy was featured in the TV show, but none of the prior movies.
“He’s always been a mean, mean guy, but he’s even more menacing and more dangerous,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura tells USA Today. “He’s bigger, badder, with a greater arsenal.”
di Bonaventura says Shockwave was given a “facelift” for the movie, and that he’s able to morph into a snake-like create that can tear down buildings easily.
“It’s crazy spectacular,” Di Bonaventura says. “Shockwave is just a ball of destruction, pulling whole skyscrapers down. He’s a messy guy to have in our world.”
“It’s a huge escalation in the amount of damage that one Decepticon can wreak,” Di Bonaventura goes on, referring to another Transformer villain. “He’s capable of wholesale destruction…that’ really bad for humans.”
Shockwave will partner with fellow villain Megatron in the film, which hits theaters June 29, but their relationship has issues.
“Decepticons have a united plan, but as usual they don’t get along,” Di Bonaventura says. “The inter-distrust between the villains is even stronger than before.”
