Travis Reid is joining Broad Green Pictures as president of theatrical distribution, the company announced Tuesday. He will oversee theatrical distribution of both the company’s specialty and wide releases, handling theatrical sales, exhibitor relations, in-theater marketing and all associated operations.
Reid most recently served as CEO of Screenvision, where he will continue to serve on the board of directors. Prior to joining Screenvision in 2010, he was CEO of Digital Cinema Implementation Partners, where he oversaw the execution of studio agreements, the arrangement of $660 million in financing, and the initial stages of DCIP’s 15,000-screen conversion to digital cinema. His career also has included 15 years with Loews Cineplex Entertainment, where he served as CEO from 2002 through the company’s merger with AMC in 2006.
In addition to its current specialty slate, Broad Green Pictures, which was founded in 2014, plans to distribute a minimum of six wide releases a year beginning in 2016. Ultimately, the studio hopes to release 12 to 16 films annually.
“Broad Green believes in the big theatrical experience. There’s something so special about watching a movie with an audience engaging in shared emotion and laughter,” Broad Green CEO Gabriel Hammond and chief creative officer Daniel Hammond said in a statement. “We want to partner with exhibition to bring incredible filmed entertainment to theaters. Having Travis at the helm underscores this priority for our company, and we look forward to the terrific opportunities that he will create for the studio.”
