The 2021 Tribeca Festival is set to host anniversary screening of Fargo and The Royal Tenenbaums, among other films, reuniting the director and star-studded casts of those acclaimed films for post-film conversations.
Fargo will celebrate its 25th anniversary with the movie followed by an in-person conversation with director and co-writer Joel Coen and stars Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi.
The Royal Tenenbaums will celebrate its 20th anniversary, with the screening of that film followed by a live-streamed conversation with director and co-writer Wes Anderson and the film’s star-studded cast: Alec Baldwin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anjelica Huston, Danny Glover and Luke and Owen Wilson.
There will also be a 30th anniversary screening of The Five Heartbeats followed by a conversation with director and co-writer Robert Townsend and the film’s cast and a restoration of Martin Scorsese’s Robert De Niro starrer Raging Bull, accompanied by a pre-recorded conversation between De Niro and Scorsese talking about the film’s legacy. And the festival will dig way into the past with a 100th anniversary screening of Charlie Chaplin’s first full-length feature, the silent film The Kid.
The festival has also revealed the lineup for its annual Tribeca Talks series of conversations with influential individuals in the entertainment industry. This year’s directors series features conversations with M. Night Shyamalan, Doug Liman and Gina Prince-Bythewood. The storytellers series will include talks between Bradley Cooper and Guillermo del Toro, Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski, Scott Z. Burns and Matthew Rhys, Shira Haas and Ali Wentworth and Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Clem Burke and Chris Stein.
The 2021 Tribeca Festival is set to take place from June 9-20 across New York City.
