The film and TV rights to Sam Marsden’s debut novel Under Glass have been optioned by former Warner Bros. president of film Greg Silverman’s Stampede Ventures.
The pre-emptive deal for the futuristic thriller comes ahead of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Under Glass is set in a glass-domed colony on Mars, where 17-year-old Eva Knight, the daughter of the colony’s president, detests the Martian way and dreams of living on Earth. When her brother is deemed unproductive and executed publicly by the Martian government, Eva must choose between accepting her mother’s path for her as a future dictator or find her place in the resistance.
“Sam has crafted an incredibly futuristic world that explores the best of science and the depths of humanity with extraordinary, relatable characters,” Silverman said Tuesday in a statement. J.P. Sarni, head of worldwide content acquisitions, oversaw the deal for Stampede.
Stampede’s lead investor and co-chairman is Gideon Yu, former CFO of Facebook and YouTube and co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers.
Marsden is repped by Jordan Hamessley and Pouya Shahbazian of New Leaf Literary & Media.
