LONDON – United International Pictures (UIP), jointly owned by Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures, has hired Zoran Slavic as general manager of its operation in Sweden.
Slavic takes over management of UIP Sweden from Liv Jacobsen who has served as general manager for both Norway and Sweden since 2005. Jacobsen remains general manager of UIP Norway.
The changes in the Scandinavian territories were announced by Duncan Clark, president, distribution, Universal Pictures International and Anthony Marcoly, president, Paramount Pictures International.
Slavic’s 25 year long resume boasts stints with Columbia Tristar Films Sweden and Sony Pictures Releasing Sweden.
Most recently, Slavic consulted on a number of entertainment industry projects, including the development of local video-on-demand services and fresh distribution initiatives in the region.
Additionally, Slavic also worked for 10 years at Swedish exhibitor SF Bio.
Clark and Marcoly said: “We were keen to appoint a seasoned leader that could provide a smooth transition for UIP Sweden and build on Liv’s success in the market. Zoran’s diverse background brings a wealth of experience and his strong local knowledge will provide firm leadership to UIP’s continued growth in Sweden.”
UIP formed in 1981 and distributes films under licence from its two partners Paramount and Universal, to cinema audiences worldwide outside Australia, Austria, Benelux, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
UIP additionally distributes Paramount and Universal titles non-theatrically throughout the world outside North America.
