Universal is preemptively picking up Dirty Grandpa, a comedy spec from John Phillips with Barry Josephson producing.
Grandpa is an R-rated comedy centered on a recently widowed, sexually aggressive grandfather on a road trip with his strait-laced grandson.
Phillips is a New York-based writer-performer out of the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre and Grandpa is his first script.
The sale was in the mid-six figures.
Alex Young from Josephson brought the project in and is overseeing it.
Josephson most recently produced Life as We Know It and Enchanted.
Phillips is repped by ICM.
