Universal Pictures has promoted Erik Baiers, a 10-year production veteran at the studio, to executive vp production.
“This is a well-deserved promotion for Erik, who has helped steer a lot of successful films for us in the past few years, including some of our biggest comedies,” said co-president of production Peter Cramer in a statement.
Baiers has worked on some of the studio’s biggest hits, including Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bridesmaids. During his time as senior vp, a position he’s held since 2012, he reunited with comedy staple Judd Apatow on the upcoming Amy Schumer film Trainwreck. He also oversaw production on Seth Rogen’s surprise smash Neighbors. Baiers frequently works with Working Title Films, a partnership that has churned out films including the Oscar-nominated musical Les Miserables, low-budget action thriller Contraband and romantic drama About Time.
Current projects for Baiers include the upcoming historical actioner-thriller Everest, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy Sisters, Melissa McCarthy comedy Michelle Darnell and the Neighbors sequel.
The NYU Tisch School of the Arts alum began his career with stints at MGM and Universal production partner Imagine Entertainment.
