Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has made its first few Dolby Vision titles available on Vudu’s streaming movie service.
They include The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Lucy, Oblivion and Lone Survivor. Lucy and Oblivion additionally feature Dolby Atmos sound.
Dolby Vision is Dolby’s high dynamic range (HDR) format, meaning that the pictures have a wider range between the blackest black and whitest white than one would get from today’s standard television format. It can be viewed on supported TVs, which in the U.S. currently means select models from LG and Vizio (TCL has plans to offer support for the format later this year).
Universal, Lionsgate, Sony, Warner Brothers and MGM offer select home entertainment titles in Dolby Vision.
In addition to Vudu, Amazon Video and Netflix streaming services also support the Dolby format.
