Universal’s The Huntsman has cast three British actors, Rob Brydon, Alexandra Roach and Sheridan Smith, as dwarves alongside Nick Frost, who is reprising his role as Nion from Snow White and the Huntsman.
Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron are reprising their roles as the Huntsman and Ravenna, respectively. Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain have joined the film, which returns to the world of Snow White and the Huntsman, but presents a new chapter of the story, focusing on the Huntsman and Ravenna’s lives before the arrival of Snow White.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will direct The Huntsman from a script by Frank Darabont, with earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The Huntsman is set for release on April 22, 2016.
Joe Roth is returning to produce while Palak Patel will executive produce. Maradith Frenkel and Chloe Yellin will oversee the project for the studio.
Welsh actor Brydon will next be seen in HBO’s upcoming series The Brink. He was most recently seen in The Trip to Italy, the sequel to The Trip opposite Steve Coogan, and Disney’s hit live-action film Cinderella, now in theaters. He previously starred in the BBC series Gavin & Stacey, and is repped by Mosaic and United Agents in the U.K.
Roach’s previous work includes The Iron Lady and Anna Karenina, and was most recently seen the British comedy Cuban Fury starring alongside Frost and Chris O’Dowd. She will next be seen in police drama series No Offence for Channel 4. Shee’s repped by WME and Troika in the U.K.
Smith, who has won two Olivier Awards, also won a BAFTA TV award for her work on the series Mrs Biggs. On the film side, Sheridan recently starred in Dustin Hoffman’s Quartet with Maggie Smith. She’s repped by Independent Talent Group in the UK.
