TORONTO — Canadian indie Vagrant Films Releasing has grabbed the Canadian distribution rights to the Norwegian drama It’s Only Make Believe by writer/director Arild Ostin Ommundsen.
The deal follows the theatrical drama’s international premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival.
It’s Only Make Believe centers on Jenny, played by Silje Salomonsen, who comes out of prison after serving time for an accidental shooting to live a quiet life as a mother, only to be dogged by shadows from the past.
Vagrant plans an early 2014 theatrical release for the pic, which also stars Vegar Hoel, Fredrik Sundsteigen Hana and Iben Østin Hjelle.
The film has been shortlisted as Norway’s foreign language Oscar submission.
The distribution deal was hammered out by Ryan Bruce Levey for Vagrant and producer Gary Cranner of Chezville AS, who produced It’s Only Make Believe.
