Venice Film Fest 70th Poster - P 2013
LACCO AMENO, Ischia — The Venice Film Festival announced Wednesday it would extend and expand its initiative to make films in the festival’s Horizons section available online.
The move comes a year after the festival allowed fans to access Horizons films digitally on a trial basis.

As was the case last year, “tickets” for the virtual screenings will be limited (500 this year), and those viewings will be scheduled in sync with the actual screening on the Lido. Fans all over the world will be able to access the Horizons films. Tickets will cost $5.50 (€4.20) and will be sold starting in August on the festival website.
All the films will be shown in their original language, with English-language subtitles — just as during the regular screenings at the festival.
The Horizons section, which focuses on new trends in filmmaking, so far is the only Venice section to allow for online viewing of titles.

The films in the Horizons section have not yet been announced. They will be revealed July 25, along with most of the rest of the festival’s lineup.
The 70th edition of the Venice festival runs from Aug. 28 through Sept. 7.
