Paramount has set a release date for Vin Diesel starrer xXx: The Return of Xander Cage: Jan. 20, 2017.
The studio officially acquired rights to xXx earlier this month. Sony released the previous two xXx films, but The Hollywood Reporter reported in January that Paramount would be the likely home of the third pic.
Diesel stars in the muscular reboot alongside xXx franchise veteran Samuel L. Jackson. Thai action star Tony Jaa, Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev, Bollywood star Deepika Padukone and Orange Is the New Black breakout Ruby Rose round out the cast.
D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is directing the reboot, which was written by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen), with revisions by F. Scott Frazier (Collide). A revamped Revolution Studios is producing alongside Roth Kirschenbaum Films and Diesel’s One Race Films.
Diesel reprises his role as an extreme athlete-turned-superspy in the latest installment.
