Former Walt Disney global digital strategy exec Jason Brenek has joined Imax.
Brenek, most recently senior vp worldwide digital cinema and cinema programming at The Walt Disney Company, joined Imax on February 9 as executive vp, according to a Feb. 17 SEC filing that was also confirmed by the giant screen exhibitor on Tuesday.
At Walk Disney, he oversaw international distribution of studio content on emerging digital platforms after an initial theatrical release. Brenek, on Jan. 29, received the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society’s first founders award for creating the organization in 2009.
Imax and Disney have a long-standing relationship. The Hollywood studio’s live-action Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Cate Blanchett, will be released on Imax screens globally starting on March 13.
Disney’s other upcoming releases on Imax screens include Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland in May 2015 and Star Wars: Episode VII in Dec. 2015.
