Warren Beatty will be honored by Museum of the Moving Image at its 30th annual Salute on Nov. 2 at 583 Park Ave. in New York, it was announced Monday by Michael Barker and Ivan L. Lustig, co-chairmen of the Museum’s board of trustees.
Beatty, a best director Oscar winner for 1981’s Reds, stars in the upcoming Rules Don’t Apply, which he also wrote, produced and directed. The film, which also stars Lily Collins and Alden Ehrenreich, will be released Nov. 23 by Fox.
In announcing Beatty’s selection, Barker said, “Warren Beatty helped invent the new Hollywood with the fresh, distinctly modern sensibility he has brought to his work in front of and behind the camera. He makes movies that are bold, provocative and entertaining, and he has had astonishing and prolonged success as an actor, director, producer and writer.”
The evening, which will include an award presentation, featuring clips from Beatty’s career introduced by his friends and colleagues, will benefit the museum’s education programs.
