John Boyega traded in his portrayal in one iconic film franchise for some moves from perhaps the most iconic pop star on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night (Nov. 29). Boyega, the British-Nigerian actor who plays renegade stormtrooper Finn in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, transformed into Michael Jackson in homage to the late King of Pop.
He first chatted with Fallon about how people’s obsessions with their phones sometimes helps him walk anonymously through airports: “It’s the best thing in the world because everyone’s in their phones. I just pretty much walk right past. Probably watching The Last Jedi trailer on their phone.” Then he divulged details about The Last Jedi wrap party, and Boyega was challenged by castmate Daisy Ridley to show everybody the MJ moves he displayed during the event.
Surely anybody who might have been checking Twitter looked up to watch him.
“We have a question from a fan that we have videotaped,” Fallon told Boyega. “I think her name is Daisy. Daisy, what’s your question?”
“Please show Jimmy your breakout dance move of the wrap party,” the actress that plays Rey said over video, which made Boyega hang his head in his hands before The Roots cued up the proper music and the actor showed off his skills.
Watch Boyega do his best MJ kick below.
