Much to the chagrin of fans, Steve Carell’s final episode of NBC’s The Office aired Thursday. But the actor still won’t be out of the limelight for long. THR takes a look at what’s next on his plate:
Crazy, Stupid Love
He stars opposite Julianne Moore and Ryan Gosling in this Warner Bros. dramedy (out July 29) about a man whose life unravels after his wife leaves him. Says THR’s Jay Fernandez: “These aren’t typically my kind of movies, but I admit that this one looks fun to me. The cast couldn’t be more appealing, that’s for sure, and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa tend to write and direct with a dirty edge.” Watch the trailer.
Great Hope Springs
He has signed on opposite Meryl Streep in this David Frankel-directed comedy for Mandate Pictures about a middle-aged couple who attend an intense weekend counseling session to determine the fate of their marriage. It is due out in 2012.
Burt Wonderstone
He also is attached to this New Line comedy about a jaded Vegas magician who is dethroned by a hip younger illusionist and then must find a way to rediscover his love for magic. Charles McDougall, who worked with Carell on The Office, is in talks to direct the picture. It is expected to begin shooting in the fall
