William Shatner may be returning to the Enterprise.
On Monday the iconic actor, who personified adventure handsomeness as Captain James T. Kirk for several generations of television and movie watchers, implied he was indeed returning to the storied franchise.
I’m baaaaccckk!!!

However, when his Twitter followers interpreted this message as a sign that he’ll appear in the new Star Trek film, he did his best to put such speculation to rest. “I’m baaaccck in LA,” he clarified, deleting the initial tweet and explaining that he was referring to his return from London. Or maybe he’s still just being coy?
@THR Really??? Slow news day? I’m back in LA after a weekend in London. Please correct this: http://t.co/pFdHAtBbvI

@SuperHeroHype @realboborci @StarTrekMovie I’m baaaccck in LA. I heard Mercury is in retrograde so I suppose we can expect craziness.

Before the tweet, Shatner admitted he was contacted by J.J. Abrams, who is producing but not directing the new movie. Badass Digest, which first broke the story of Shatner being approached for a cameo, is saying the actor would share a scene with Chris Pine, who plays the young Kirk — as well as the two Spocks, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.
