Actor Wilmer Valderrama will host the 2018 American Latin Media Arts Awards (ALMAs) on Sunday, Nov. 4.
“This is a critical time in history,” noted Valderrama in a press release. “The achievements of Latinos and our contributions need to be spotlighted more now than ever. I am thrilled to be involved with the ALMAs 2018 and to share the stage with some of the leading voices in entertainment making an impact on our country and inspiring our generation.”
The ceremony will honor former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and the cast of Jane the Virgin. Jane the Virgin castmembers Gina Rodriguez, Jaime Camil and Andrea Navedo will be present to accept the award on behalf of their show.
Tying into the night’s theme, “This Is Our America!,” Parkland survivor and activist Samantha Fuentes and Zero Hour movement founder Jamie Margolin will receive the Trailblazer Award.
Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke, Love & Hip Hop: Miami star Amara La Negra and Fuse Music DJ Cipha Sounds are set to perform during the 75-minute telecast.
The ALMAs, formerly known as the Bravo Awards, were organized by the National Council of La Raza (now UnidosUS) in 1995 to promote positive portrayals of Latinos in American entertainment. They remain the only nationally telecast, English-language show to recognize the accomplishments of Latinos in the industry.
This year marks the ALMAs’ return to television after a three-year gap. The awards show, which last aired on NBC, will now air on Fuse and its sister network, Fuse Music.
The show will be broadcast on Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
Oct. 26, 4:52 p.m. An earlier version of this story incorrectly referred to Fuse Music as Fuse Media. The Hollywood Reporter regrets the error.
