Not content with wowing fans with perhaps the most smartly edited trailer for a superhero movie ever made, Warner Bros. and DC teased some new clips and fleshed out a backstory for Wonder Woman on Tuesday night’s Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW.
What we learn from the clips is that Wonder Woman will have elements set in the past with Diana (Gal Gadot) at some points wearing a period costume and that the movie will be an origin story. “We are going to see her coming of age, the entire history, what’s her mission,” says Gadot in the clip.
The stand-alone Wonder Woman movie won’t be the first appearance of the Amazonian warrior princess as she’s is set to play a crucial role in Batman v Superman, which will be released on Mar. 25.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film will co-star Chris Pine and Robin Wright and hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
