Storm Reid, who headlines Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, will star opposite David Oyelowo in Only You, the latest thriller from Blumhouse Productions.
Jacob Estes wrote the mind-bending script and is directing the feature, which began production Monday in Los Angeles.
Details are being kept locked tight, but You involves a police officer (Oyelowo) whose family was killed, a niece (Reid) who is in danger, and a plot with time-travel elements.
Jason Blum is producing. Oyelowo is executive producing along with Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson and Jeanette Volturno. Jay Martin is also exec producing.
Reid is poised for a career breakout with her starring turn in Wrinkle, which was directed by Ava DuVernay and whose teaser trailer was one of the buzzy hits of Disney’s just-wrapped fan expo D23. The adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic children’s book features Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling but focuses on a young girl, played by Reid, traumatized by the disappearance of her scientist father years before. She finds herself on an interplanetary journey with a schoolmate and her younger brother to find her father.
Reid made her film debut in the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave, in which she appeared with Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor. She also appeared in the sci-fi drama Sleight, which was released by Blumhouse label BH Tilt.
She is repped by the Savage Agency, Management 360 and Felker Toczek.
