Zack Snyder Reacts to ‘Wonder Woman’: “Proud”

Zack Snyder just needs one word to encapsulate his thoughts on Wonder Woman: “Proud.”

Snyder, who co-wrote the story for the new film, shared that message and a new picture of Gal Gadot as the superhero Friday evening via his Vero account.

The message comes as Snyder has stepped away from the spotlight while he and his family mourn his daughter, Autumn Snyder, who died by suicide in March. The filmmaker and his wife, producer Deborah Snyder, are stepping back from November’s Justice League, with Joss Whedon on deck to carry the film through postproduction and the shooting of a few additional scenes.

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it,” Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter last month of initially going back to work after Autumn’s death. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

The Snyder family was in the thoughts of the director’s Warner Bros./DC family at last week’s Wonder Woman premiere.

“Zack is one of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. I want the world to wrap their arms around him and embrace him,” Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins told THR at the premiere.
