Andrea Arnold’s Cannes jury winner American Honey and Bacalaureat from Cristian Mungiu, who took best director honors at Cannes in May, will be reunited at the upcoming Zurich International Film Festival, where those two films are among the titles getting gala premieres.
Two of Cannes’ critical darlings this year — David Mackenzie’s Hell or High Water, which screened in Un Certain Regard, and Pablo Larraín’s Critics Week entry Neruda — also will get the red-carpet treatment in Zurich.
Other fest galas announced Thursday include A Monster Calls, the latest drama from The Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona, which will head to Zurich following its world premiere in Toronto next month; Roberto Ando’s Italian thriller The Confessions; and Dancer, a documentary from director Steven Cantor about Sergei Polunin, the Royal Ballet’s youngest primo ballerino.
The 12th annual Zurich International Film Festival is set to run Sept. 22-Oct. 2.
