Now that Jonah Hill has proven he can handle being semi-serious with his role in Moneyball, the actor is returning to his awkward comedy routine with 21 Jump Street – and Channing Tatum will be joining him. The first red band trailer for the film premiered on Wednesday, showing the duo as mediocre bike cops who are recruited for a police program them embeds young-looking officers in a high school to sniff out crime.

The film version of the television series by the same name has updated the story, with the high schoolers wearing the modern-day looks and phrases like “Twitterverse” easily slipped into the dialogue.
And by the looks of it, Tatum and Hill’s characters also struggle to fit in to high school, sporting questionable fashion choices and old school dance moves. The filmmakers smartly chose not to ignore the fact that Tatum looks far beyond the age of a high schooler, throwing in plenty of jokes about his muscular build.

A highlight from the trailer? The appearance of Nick Offerman, who plays Ron Swanson on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. His mustache is made for the big screen.
The trailer, however, does not give viewers a glimpse of Johnny Depp, who will make an appearance in the film. Depp shot to fame with his role on the ’80s television series.
Sony’s film, which was written by Hill and Michael Bacall and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, is currently scheduled for a March 2012 release.
