The first trailer for Wild sees Reese Witherspoon portraying a woman on a long road toward getting her life back together. That includes hiking more than 1,000 miles through desert, snow, mountains and other desolated areas.
Jean-Marc Vallee, who helmed the Oscar-winning drama Dallas Buyers Club, directed the film. The cast includes Laura Dern, Thomas Sadowski, Brian van Holt, Mo McRae, Gaby Hoffmann and Kevin Rankin.

The film is an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed‘s 2012 memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, which follows the author as she hikes on a self-discovery journey.
Wild hits theaters in wide release Dec. 5 against Fox’s horror title The Pyramid.
