'18 to Life' picked up by CW

Canadian comedy will bow Aug. 3 in the U.S.

TORONTO -- The CBC sitcom "18 to Life" has been picked up by the CW network for its summer schedule.

The Canadian comedy, originally jointly developed by the CBC and ABC stateside, will bow August 3 stateside with back-to-back episodes starting at 9 p.m.

CW picked up the first season of the single camera comedy about young neighbors who marry on a dare, or 12 half-hours in all.

The CBC series stars Michael Seater and Stacey Farber, and is produced by indie producers Galafilm and Sound Venture.

"18 to Life" was created, written and executive produced by Derek Schreyer ("Murdoch Mysteries," "Cold Squad"), Karen Troubetzkoy and Galafilm CEO Arnie Gelbart.

The ensemble cast includes Peter Keleghan, Ellen David, Angela Asher and Tiio Horn.

The sitcom producers are currently shooting the second season of "18 to Life" in Montreal.
