Forget about the grand gowns of years past: Kerry Washington, Zendaya, Regina King and Shira Haas — plus Rachel Brosnahan in custom jammies — were among the stars who brought the right amount of glamour to TV’s biggest night.

Many attendees of Sunday’s 72nd Emmy Awards didn’t allow the stay-at-home mandate to interfere with their decision to channel high-wattage glamour. From pricey haute couture to dazzling gemstones and diamonds, several stars chose to celebrate the night in standout style — and even the loungewear looks, such as Rachel Brosnahan’s custom pajamas, were chic. Here’s a look at the night’s best:

Julia Garner A repeat Emmy winner for Netflix’s Ozark, Garner channeled a 1930s vibe with a multitude of Chanel Fine Jewelry pearls over a powder-pink satin blouse and pants from the house’s Fall 2020 haute-couture collection, and finished the look with a diamond and pearl Chanel Fine Jewelry brooch on a wide velvet headband in her hair.

Kerry Washington A four-time nominee for 2020 who already had picked up one trophy at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier in the week, Washington appeared on Sunday’s virtual ceremony in a leopard-pattern sequined sheath, embellished with black beaded fringe, by Dolce & Gabbana, paired with emeralds from Chopard's Red Carpet and high-jewelry collections.

Zendaya The Euphoria winner kicked the fashion conversation into high gear early in the evening when her stylist, Law Roach, posted a look on Instagram; the actress paired her color-blocked dress from the Christopher John Rogers’s Fall 2020 collection with high jewelry by Bulgari. Later in the evening, receiving her statuette for best actress in a drama series, Zendaya wore, a second look, by Armani Prive, with Bulgari jewelry.

Regina King An Emmy winner for HBO’s Watchmen, King paired a black T-shirt featuring an image of Breonna Taylor, with “Say Her Name” emblazoned above, with a shocking pink suit from the House of Schiaparelli. Earlier in the evening, for a rooftop photo shoot, she wore a puffy blue silk faille Schiaparelli Couture by Daniel Roseberry gown, Bondeye Jewelry earrings, and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II A winner for HBO’s Watchmen, Abdul-Mateen set social media buzzing early in the evening in a double-breasted chalk-stripe suit and white button-down shirt from Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2020 collection.

Yvonne Orji A nominee for HBO’s Insecure, Orji chose a dramatic one-shoulder beaded gown with ruffle detailing by Beirut-based designer Azzi & Osta, accessorized with jewelry by David Yurman and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Catherine O’Hara The night’s first Emmy winner for her role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, O’Hara wore head-to-toe Valentino – a strapless crepe wool dress with a sequin turtleneck top, paired with Valentino Garavani combat boots – and finished the look with jewelry by David Yurman and an Omega De Ville Prestige Dew Drop watch with diamond pave bezel.

Annie Murphy Also an Emmy winner for Schitt’s Creek, Murphy likewise wore Valentino, a crepe couture suit with a chiffon silk top from the house’s fall 2020 ready-to-wear collection.

Shira Haas Nominated for Netflix’s Unorthodox, Haas attended the virtual ceremony from her home in Tel Aviv and wore a strapless, belted bustier dress from Chanel’s Fall 2020 haute-couture collection. Crafted in navy chiffon with floral embroidery in multicolored organza, the dress required 1,200 hours of handcraft.

Rachel Brosnahan The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel nominee took the night’s playful dress code to heart, wearing a pair of custom pajamas by New York-based tailor and bespoke designer Christy Rilling. Stylists Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson paired the look with jewelry by Los Angeles-based designer Retrouvai and Roger Vivier shoes. Rilling also created jammies for the actress' husband Jason Ralph and a custom bow-tie for their dog Nikki.

Dan Levy Levy’s Schitt’s Creek swept the comedy categories early in the evening, which gave the audience multiple looks at his fashion-forward look by Thom Browne, a gray flannel 4-bar jacket and matching kilt from the designer’s Fall 2020 collection. He accessorized with an Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial watch.

Tracee Ellis Ross The Black-ish nominee chose a glittering gold-lamé tiered gown from Alexandre Vauthier’s Fall 2020 haute-couture collection, them ramped up the glamour with vintage jewels by Tiffany & Co. and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Reese Witherspoon Nominated as an executive producer of Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, Witherspoon wore a navy dress with shoulder ties from Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2020 collection, accessorized with pieces from the house’s latest high-jewelry collection, including “Lune Bleue” sapphire and diamond earrings and a matching ring.

Jeremy Pope A first-time nominee for Netflix's Hollywood, Pope sported a suit from Louis Vuitton's LV2 collection, designed as an homage to the house's iconic Damier checkerboard pattern. He paired it with an Omega Constellation Co-Axial watch in red gold and Christian Louboutin shoes.
