'3D Experience' heading to Times Square

September event to feature screenings, gaming, TV content

The 3D experience is coming to Times Square in September.

Nino Balistreri, producer of the 3DX Festival in Singapore and 3D Screenings Asia in Hong Kong, is putting together in collaboration with The Hollywood Reporter an inaugural showcase, "The 3D Experience," which will feature 3D digital cinema, gaming and TV content.

The free event, set for Sept. 24-26, will include screenings of 3D Hollywood blockbusters, including one of the largest outdoor 3D screenings to date, as well as a 3D showroom lit up with technology and products for the home including video games, Blu-ray players and 3D HDTVs.

"Following on the record-smashing boxoffice sales of 3D blockbusters like 'Avatar' and 'Up,' filmmakers, theaters, consumer-electronic manufacturers and video gaming companies are poised to redefine the entertainment market," Balistreri said. "The beauty of 'The 3D Experience' in Times Square is that no other event in the world brings together major Hollywood studios, theaters, game publishers, consumer electronics manufacturers and consumers."

Balistreri expects attendance in the 75,000 range, including industry players and consumers.
