'4Real' headed for CW

Documentary series will air on Sundays

TORONTO -- The Canadian documentary series "4REAL" has been added to the CW's Sunday night lineup.

The eight-part MTV Canada series, which will debut Sept. 21, follows movie and music celebrities, including Cameron Diaz, Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes and Casey Affleck, as they travel to distant parts of the world to meet local leaders that introduce social change.

Media Rights Capital brokered the deal with Vancouver-based producer Direct Current Media, which has sold the series into 166 markets internationally after it aired initially on MTV Canada and CTV here.

The CW deal comes after CTV, which owns and operates MTV Canada, saw its cop drama "Flashpoint" sell to CBS, "The Listener" go to NBC, and music talk show "Spectacle: Elvis Costello with ..." be picked up by the Sundance Channel.

"4REAL" is executive produced by Joaquin Phoenix, Chris Haddock and Laura Lightbown.
