700 Redbox kiosks due for CVS, Longs

Installations due by year's end, more planned for 2011

Redbox said Thursday it will install 700 DVD-rental kiosks in CVS and Longs Drugs locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico by year's end.

Additional installations will continue throughout 2011, the Coinstar-owned company said.

Known for dollar-a-night DVD rentals, Redbox recently unveiled plans to begin renting Blu-ray Disc titles in the fall for $1.50 per day. Its CVS pact marks a first-time relationship with the retail chain.

Redbox president Mitch Lowe said the company's kiosks have been "increasing traffic for our retail partners." Redbox operates disc kiosks in about 23,000 retail locations nationwide.
