A&E Orders 'Intervention' Spin-Off 'Relapse'

The network is also getting a 20-episode second season of 'Storage Wars.'

NEW YORK - A&E’s documentary series Intervention is getting a spin-off this spring.

Called Relapse, the show will follow “sober coaches” as they do whatever it takes to help addicts who have already gone through treatment stay on the wagon, the network said. Sober coaches are ex-addicts who give one-on-one attention to people who have repeatedly relapsed.

A&E has ordered five episodes from producer GRB Entertainment. Each episode follows two coaches and their clients over the course of a week.

A&E has also ordered a 20-episode second series of Storage Wars. Just like Relapse, the new season of the successful show will premiere during the second quarter.

The first season to-date of Storage Wars has averaged 2.3 million viewers, the network said. "Storage Wars has garnered critical acclaim and has risen above the competition," said Bob DeBitetto, president and general manager of A&E and Bio Channel.
