Oscars: Chilean Winner 'A Fantastic Woman' Gets Presidential Praise Back Home
Chile's president Michelle Bachelet and president-elect Sebastian Piñera both congratulated Sebastian Lelio's film for its foreign-language Oscar nod.
Sebastian Lelio's A Fantastic Woman on Sunday night got a double presidential praise on Twitter, as both Chilean president Michelle Bachelet and president-elect Sebastian Piñera congratulated the film for its Oscar win in the best foreign-language film category.
"This award fills us with pride and recognizes not only a great film, but also a story about respect for diversity that is good for our country!," Bachelet tweeted seconds after Rita Moreno announced the winner.

After the Oscar was announced, Piñera wrote: "Behind every Chilean man and woman representing us with their talent and work, there is an entire country that is proud, confident, and hopeful in its ability and effort to to reach the highest peak. Good luck and success tonight to A Fantastic Woman at the Oscars."
