Hanks stars in the adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel.

Tom Hanks stars in A Hologram for the King — and in its newly released trailer — as a typical struggling businessman just trying to make ends meet, traveling halfway around the world to do so.

The trailer for A Hologram for the King, an adaptation of Dave Eggers' novel, debuted Thursday, meeting up with Hanks' everyman (Alan Clay) as he attempts to pitch his "three-dimensional holographic meeting system" to a king in Saudi Arabia. But before his big pitch, Hanks has to endure bureaucracy, anxiety attacks, a difficult monarch and an even more difficult guide.

The film also stars Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Tom Skerritt (Ted), Omar Elba (Intelligence), Tracey Fairaway (Enough Said) and David Menkin (Zero Dark Thirty). A Hologram for the King was directed and written by Cloud Atlas director Tom Tykwer. It is a Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions/Saban Entertainment release.
