A little swearing doesn't stop Simmons

WNBC promoted despite on-air potty mouth

A local anchor's recent F-bomb on live TV hasn't seemed to hurt her career.

WNBC's Sue Simmons caused a stir earlier this month when she swore during a live promo for the station's 11 p.m. newscast. She apologized for the remark during the 11 p.m. newscast and then again in a statement. The controversy didn't stop the NBC O&O from giving Simmons the choice 6 p.m. newscast duties with co-anchor Chuck Scarborough.

Simmons and Scarborough have been a three-decade tradition on the New York airwaves. The two already co-anchor the 11 p.m. newscast, while Simmons co-anchors the 5 p.m. newscast and Scarborough is the 7 p.m. "New York Nightly News" anchor.

The changes are effective Monday.
