A weekly double? 'Hallelujah'
EmptyThe U.K. singles chart is doubly blessed this week.
Alexandra Burke, winner of TV music talent show "The X Factor," has the Christmas No. 1 with her take on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," while the late Jeff Buckley's 1994 version of the song is No. 2.
It is the first time in nearly 52 years that the same song has occupied the top two spots on the U.K. chart. Tommy Steele and Guy Mitchell turned the trick in January 1957 with "Singin' the Blues."
Cohen's 1984 version of "Hallelujah" debuts at No. 36 this week.
Burke sold 576,000 copies, according to the Official Charts Co., making it the fastest-selling single by a female artist. (partialdiff)
