A&E pins president's stripes on DeBitetto
EmptyRobert DeBitetto has been upped to president and GM of A&E Network and Bio Channel.
DeBitetto, who had been executive vp and GM since 2005, will be responsible for content across all platforms for A&E and Bio (formerly Biography) as well as Crime & Investigation Network. He continues to oversee programming, strategic planning, acquisitions, consumer marketing, brand development, public relations and on-air promotions for all three channels. DeBitetto also oversees the feature documentary unit A&E IndieFilms.
DeBitetto reports to A&E Television Networks president and CEO Abbe Raven, who was president of A&E until getting promoted in 2005 (the position has been vacant since then).
Raven praised DeBitetto for helping A&E become a top 10-rated cable network and overseeing a 15-year drop in the network's median age in the past four years.
"Bob has done a remarkable job in raising the visibility of A&E," Raven said. "He has expanded our investment in acquisitions, overseen our jump back into scripted drama and upped the level of our investment in real-life franchises."
She noted that DeBitetto also led the development and implementation of the A&E rebranding that includes the tagline "Real Life. Drama" and pointed to the net's success in the reality arena with shows like "Intervention." (partialdiff)
