ABC Announces 2011-12 Premiere Dates

Modern Family

Modern Family features not one, but three different dads, each heading their own family -- with varying degrees of success. Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell), Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill), Cam Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) all struggle with their own relationship problems, and each other. From an intense fear of birds to an overwhelmingly competitive spirit, no father is perfect, but they all share a desire to navigate their loved ones down the correct path. Strangely, they all suffer from recurring flashbacks as well.

Comedies "Modern Family," "The Middle" and Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing" will get super-sized premieres.

ABC announced premiere dates for the 2011-12 season that includes super-sized premieres for multiple series. Wednesday comedies The Middle and Modern Family will both get special one-hour premieres on Sept. 21 leading into new drama Revenge. The rest of ABC’s Wednesday night comedy lineup – Suburgatory and Happy Endings will bow the following Wednesday in their regular time slots.

At this point, it's unclear whether the episodes will be an hour each or two back-to-back installments. An ABC spokesperson said that has yet to be decided.

Grey’s Anatomy will get a two-hour premiere Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. while Charlie’s Angels will lead off the night at 8 p.m. Private Practice will bow the following Thursday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m.

Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing and Man Up – which will open up a new Tuesday comedy block for ABC – will bow in October after the Dancing with the Stars results show. Last Man Standing will get an hour-long premiere on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. and Man Up will bow Oct. 18 at 8:30 p.m.
